GPS Utility Standard edition
Version 4.98, Released 15-OCT-2008
This file contains the all the files you need to install and run
GPS Utility together with a number of sample files
to get you going.
This version corrects two regression bugs (in 4.96 associated with saving settings and in
version 4.97 concerning geo-referencing JPG Photo files).
This version also includes the following new function:
- If bitmap image file is not found in specified place then look in other folders
- Option to use all subfolders in JPG file correlate function
- An ALL option when re-autocorrelating JPG files
- An option for NMEA 2.3 or NMEA 1.8 in File|Save/Export Options
- Customization of Naismith's rule in Route Edit dialog.
- A Compress Route function with 3D option
- Save altitude to 1 signigicant figure in DBF file export.
- Option to allow export of waypoints as Marks for MaxSea PTF files
- Option to control Calibration maps order (i.e. in recently used order)
- Added GPS time to JPG photos when geo-referencing photos
- Improved support for geo-referencing Sony JPG files
- Support for Nobletec ONL files without proper headers.
Other recent improvements include:

- Export of waypoints in Delorme *.AN1 file
- Import and export of Raymarine *.FSH files
- Import of Sony/Ericsson *.result files. (for devices such as HGE-100)
- Support the import of Gisteq NMEA type files
- Write Geo-Ref JPG files (currently registered version only).
- Implemented means to transfer GPSU to a removable media device.
- Correlate Digital JPG photographs with Trackpoint data (gives position of photos)
- Import sections of MemoryMap QCT bitmap files (READONLY)
- Import of Magellan Maestro *.DAT files
- Import and Export of Navigo *.DAT files supported (waypoints only)
- Import of Mapinfo *.TAB fileset (limited capability)
- Import and Export waypoints in Garmin ADM files (SD Card files) plus interface support for ADM files
- Route and Track styles. Please note however, that
files generated with styles enabled cannot be opened by GPSU version 4.55. Only enable the Styles
facility if you do not require backward file compatibility with a previous version of GPSU.

- Digitial Elevation Model (DEM) For obtaining height information from NASA supplied elevation

- unzip and run the Setup file.

If you are upgrading and have your own copies of datums, grids or symbol set files,
then take care to back them up before installation.

GPS Utility - Beta Test Version
Version 4.9m Released 25-Oct-2008
This is provided for users who have requested new function
(for full details see the changes.txt file in the package).
The zip file contains files which have been updated since the last standard release.
As with any Beta level release, ensure that you have saved all data in GPSU and other
programs before using it.
Version 4.9m improvements include:
- Fix to DFL file import (new record types)
- Fix to MOB function so as to refresh the waypoint view correctly
- Fix to Nobeltec file import (waypoint ID length)
- Fix to MemoryMap to support recent version of *.MMO files
- Corrected a problem associated with Furuno *.TRK import
- Corrected a problem when Route table is full in the Freeware version.
- Give warning message on changing type of Auxiliary data in Options|Field Properties
- Import new point types in Delorme SA9 files + correct a Freeware Route problem.
GPS Utility Beta test 4.9m - 1.5M
You need to install the standard version (4.98) of GPSU first.
Unzip and place these files in the SAME directory as the existing installation
You may also wish to arrange a desktop shortcut to point to the EXE file. If you get an error message
about not being able to find grid or symbol set files, then check that the desktop shortcut points to the
correct EXE file in the program installation directory.

GPSU Batch File Converter Utility

a batch of files from one format to another format.

GPSU Import File Converter Utility
Version 1.25, Released 25-JAN-2008
The purpose of this program is to help with the task of extracting GPS data from
ASCII text files and producing a file that is suitable for import to GPS Utility (GPSU).
Normally the files will have been produced by a Database or Spreadsheet program
in a comma separated value (CSV) or Tab separated form.
Recent changes:
- Give warning message on about to overwrite settings file.
- Associate identically named settings and dataset file.
- Allow a '+' sign data import.
- Improved Help description.
- Added Date/time for waypoint export.
- Added List separators of Space and (None).
